As we all know 2005 was a trying year for most wines and an especially difficult one for Pinot Noir. I designated this offering as “Santa Barbara County”. It is a blend of vineyards from both the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria appellations with each imparting their own flavors and creating additional ones that result in a balanced very complex wine. This layering of fruit and earthy aromas helps to provide structure and the silky full tannins guarantee richness that will be evidenced from the first sip to the last bottle laid down for several years.

  Tasting Notes:

AROMAS: Dark cherries, cola nut, leather and a sweet spiciness predominate. As the wine breathes, dark berries and earthy tones start to emerge, giving way to sweet black cherry, hints of smoke and white chocolate accents.

FLAVORS: The wine begins with sweet cherries and currents. Then flavors of berries, pomegranates, mushrooms and smoky oak combine with spices and elegant tannins to stretch the mid palate, ending in a luscious finish. The balanced acidity and tannin structure will allow this wine to improve with additional cellaring.
