Set on a high bench of ancient seabed on the eastern edge of the Santa Ynez Valley, our 40-acre estate vineyard produces an intensely rich Syrah.
Our estate vines face the eastern wind that funnels through the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south and the Purisima Hills and San Raphael Mountains to the north. This idyllic location gives us cool nights, sun-drenched days and a touch of wind and fog to moderate those warm afternoons - the perfect conditions for growing world-class Syrah.
"The south facing hills and limestone pebbles of our home vineyard give the grapes a dark chocolate character," says winemaker David Hopkins. "The Syrah from our estate vines is round and full in the mouth, with soft, chewy tannins."
